ARATI AT THE MAI RAM YOGA ASHRAM
Arati is a ritual of fire offering (Skr. ārātrika), sacred fire ceremony, which helps a person to focus on the Self and calm down the mind in the morning and evening. This fire ceremony is performed with sincere devotion, so it calms us down and brings us to the state of bliss. At each yoga ashram yogis perform a certain kind of arati consecrated by the sampradaya (Skt. sampradāya means teaching lineage). Arati is performed following certain rules. At the ashram, there is a special altar place for this ritual, containing a picture of the Guru and other images that reflect divinity, power and manifestations of deity.
